Welcome

Lawrence Lampert Memorial Tournament
at the annual School Chess Association
Statewide Primary/Elementary Championship

Again this year the State Tournament will feature a special section called the Lawrence Lampert Memorial Tournament. This tournament is unrated and is open to all players 7th grade to adult. It honors the memory of the late Lawrence Lampert, founder and past President of SCA, who is remembered best for the State Tournament he created. The State Tournament lives on as the premier event at which Minnesota primary and elementary-aged players meet, compete, and grow with the game. Join SCA parents and alumni to honor Larry with a day of the game to which he dedicated so much.

This tournament will have 4 to 5 rounds, depending on the number of players that register.

All money collected from this tournament will go into a scholarship fund for those chess players who cannot afford to attend chess camp and chess tournaments. A committee from the School Chess Association will oversee how these funds are used. Larry's goal was for all kids to be able to participate in chess activities.
